Cool Treat On A Hot Day 2 For 1 Blizzards At Dairy Queen

I don't know about you but once summer arrives I have to have a Dairy Queen Blizzard...hmmm...yummm...!!!!

Mosquito Repellent People!!!! AHHHHHH

I am dying from the Mosquito bites!!!! I literally run from them, haha

I went looking for bug repellant and most stores are sold out or they contain chemicals I don't wanna put on my skin.

I went to the health store and they gave me instructions on how to make a nice organic mosquito repellant:

Small Spray bottle filled with Olive Oil (dollarama sells them)

5-6 drops of Citronella Essential Oil (most health stores/vitamin stores: Approx $8)

*Mix Together*

Spritz all over and enjoy! :)

* For the Furbabies out there, please consider getting them a bug spray as well, they too feel the wrath of the mosquitos just like we do they too need protection. I found a few organic sprays specifically for dogs (in case they ingest it by licking), at most specialty pet stores. Please be leery of buying items from places like PJ's Pets or other stores that sell dogs.

In this month's Smart Source flyer (this past weekend) is a coupon for $2 off a 425ml Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce (expires June 11) and $1 off any's size any flavour Bush's Best Baked Beans (expires July 15).

Both of these brands are common and very popular in the US...and now available here in Canada.

Add some of your pulled pork or cut up brisket to those beans and you got some good eats.

You should be able to find them at Walmart, Superstore, Etc. for pretty close to those prices when they're on sale which means they're FREE or pretty close to it.

FYI If you goto Walmart they are only $2! Because its a grocery item there is no tax, so it costs you nothing....by the way I tried it and its really yummy!!

Because its BBQ season try and get it while it lasts, it does sell out quickly so if there out check back since they restock often.

Made a few gift bags for a new shelter that currently only has 6 residents, but thankfully that gives me more time to put more bags together :) Guess what?! FREE Trail Sized St. Ives Facewash With In-Store Coupon

If you goto a local pharmacy or grocery store (Shoppers or Safeway are great) till next week you should be able to find a coupon hanging on one of the shelves near the face washes for $1 OFF ANY St. Ives Face wash. The important key here is that it states ANY and it does NOT give a size restriction. Take this coupon to WalMart and goto their Travel Size section and pick out the travel sized St.Ives for $1.00. After its all said and done you should be left owing ONLY the tax! I love this face wash, it works great because it has an exfoliator that really cleans deep down and makes you feel fresh :)

FREE Swiffer Starter Duster Kit With Coupon

If you goto Superstore by April 8, 2011 you can get a coupon for $4.99 off ANY Swiffer starter kit.  Because it says any and does not specify that it must be used on the mops or brooms you can use it on the swiffer duster which sells for $4.99 at both Walmart and Canadian Tire. If you have any problems (which I did not), the kit does state "starter kit includes..." which categorizes it essentially as a starter kit. 

Remember the coupon is only available till April 8, 2011 so get in there and get your swiffers for FREE! Spring Cleaning awaits.

Secret Deodorant on Sale at Sobeys For $2, FREE With Brandsaver Coupon

Selected varieties of Secret Deodorants are on sale at Sobeys this week for $2. If you still have any Brandsaver coupons laying around use them now, because they expire at the end of this month!

This week at No Frills 30 rolls (2 ply) Royale Toilet Paper are on sale for $4.77, which is a great deal. Not to mention combine that with the $1 off any 2 ply Royale Toilet Paper found in the Smart Source insert a month or so ago, that brings the total to $3.77! There is a limit of 2 per family, so bring a friend :)

NEW BRANDSAVER Insert to be out in CANADA APRIL 2!!!!!

Heard from a fellow Smart Canuck who emailed Brandsaver that the new insert will hit Canada April 2, be sure to mark your calendar as this is the hottest coupon insert for most people, it contains usually well over $100 in coupons and they often can be stack with several over coupons. This is my staple set of coupons that I use to get things for free, in fact this alone can get you many free items.


If you are new to couponing this is a staple item, so be sure to go and get it!

Ask and You Shall Recieve

One of the most important lessons I have learned is to ask questions. It certainly does not cause any harm, nor will it cause a negative impact. You wont find answers until you ask ;)

Recently I was told that London Drugs sometimes will reduce a product to the last posted sale price at their discretion. I was shocked! In fact I went to London Drugs and wanted to purchase some tissue (was currently at regular price) to donate and was hoping I could get it free. I was only getting 9 boxes so I asked about reducing the price to the last posted sale price. The Customer Service cashier (always ask at customer service desk as they have access to the computer system and are more knowledgeable regarding coupon rules, sales, and discounts) looked up the last posted price which would allow me to cover the entire cost with the coupons (it was only $.20 but oh well, lol). I asked what the rules where receiving the last posted price reduction and I was told is basically depends on the amount they have in stock and how much you wish to purchase and when it was last posted; obviously if your attempting to get a truck load they will likely say no, but if your reasonable they usually will accept your request. 

Lesson Learned: ASK, it never hurts and you could greatly benefit from it.

Check Your UPC Codes People!

Today I met up with a fellow Smartcanuck friend (Debbie99) who filled me in on something I never even thought to check before.

THE UPC CODES ON THE BACK OF YOUR COUPONS!!!

I used to never really look at the UPC codes on the back of coupons although I was aware that they had to be different from another. (That has changed as well according to LD policy you can now use coupons together if they 'look' different. What I didnt know was that there are several coupons available at any given time that look the same but have different codes. Sometimes this is because they have been distributed to different stores I am not sure but recently I found some coupons that were identical however they have different UPC codes, which means I can double my savings!


Here is a picture of 2 identical coupons with a different UPC code. Now that you know this start checking. I used to leave behind coupons thinking I had them already, completely unaware that it is potential if they are different.

Usually its just the last 2 numbers that will be different, here you can see that one ends with 10 and one ends with an 82. As you can see here they also have different expiry dates. So they may have come out in stores at different times.

---DRESSING--- (1) Egg (½) tsp Dry Yellow Mustard (½) tsp Salt Freshly Ground Black Pepper (2) Cloves Garlic, Minced (½) tsp Garlic Salt (2) TBL Anchovy Paste (1) TBL Lemon Juice (1) TBL White Vinegar (1) Cup Vegetable Oil ---SALAD--- (2) Heads Romaine Lettuce, Torn In Bite-Sized Pieces (---) Seasoned Croutons (---) Fresh Parmesan Cheese, Grated Mix all of the dressing ingredients in a blender, except the vegetable oil. Blend for 20 seconds. Slowly, add the vegetable oil, a drop at a time, until the mixture becomes thick. Chill the dressing for at least four hours, so that the flavors blend. Toss the romaine, dressing, croutons and Parmesan cheese just before serving. It's not the usual recipe for Caesar Salad, but it's a much better one. Makes 3-4 Servings.  ---Croutons--- (1/2) French Loaf (5) TBL butter (3) Cloves Garlic (1) TBL Parmesean Melt butter and mix in minced garlic and grated parmesan. Cut up french loaf into desired sized pieces. Toss bread in butter mixture and place on cookie sheet. Bake at 380 C for about 10-15; till desired crunchiness.

London Drugs Deals Sunday Shop Feb 27

Here is my usual London Drugs sunday shopping trip. There were some great sales posted in this weeks flyer. I actually went on friday with a friend to show her how to use coupons and bought the toothpaste that was on sale. I got 8 toothpastes for free, just paid the tax.

Dumpster Diving 101

I am often asked where I find all the coupons I have. Well to start most people who know me well, friends, family, and co-workers usually keep their eyes open and pick em up for me when they see them, not to mention I find majority just by always being on the lookout.

One of the best ways though I have found to come across coupons, especially inserts is to 'dumpster dive'. I call it this, however it really is nothing like what people would consider dumpster diving. 

I went onto the City of Edmonton Website to locate their Eco-Stations (this is what they are actually called), and found a couple that were closest to me. I assume if your in a different city you could do this as well. Click Here to goto the City of Edmonton's list of Eco-Stations.

When I am there, there are actually quite a few people milling in and out doing different things. I have met many people who are looking for different things, some are looking for books (great idea!), magazines (I find all kinds of new ones), fire wood, coupons, cans/bottles and many other things. Its a great place to find free items, especially things we spend lots of money on. I love buying magazines; mainly gossip and cooking ones, but at $5 a pop thats a bit of money out of pocket. I often find brand new magazines in the bins, some even still in the packaging. I will never buy a magazine again, haha. I also like to put my spices and pastas in baby food jars as there see through, and I find that there are loads at the recycle centers as well.

Be prepared though and bring a pair of gloves, I wear thin winter gloves. The paper leaves ink all over your hands otherwise, and sometimes people dispose of the wrong items in these bins from time to time.

At the bins I goto usually there pretty full so I can just sift through the papers standing outside the bin, but sometimes its a bit less than half full so I just hop on in there. Just make sure people know your there or they may through something in while your in there, hehe.

The Bargain Shop Deal on Baxter's Soups

The Bargain Shop is having a sale on Baxter soups for $0.88 a can. With the recent coupon from Save.ca for $0.50 off you can get a can of Baxters soup for only $0.38 a can.
